Cera Ledbetter, Lincoln cruise past Gazelles
Cera Ledbetter scored 17 points, Ellie Brecht added 11 and Lincoln cruised to a 50-39 victory over Yankton Saturday afternoon.
Patriots point guard Darby Hugunin scored nine points, seven in the first half to help LHS bounce back from a disappointing loss Tuesday at home to OG.
The Patriots (5-3) were coming of a 47-45 defeat Tuesday night against the O'Gorman Knights. They had a 14 point second half lead melt at home letting the Knights score the game's last 10 points.
Saturday the Patriots were able to get a 12 point first half lead and made that stick and win for the fourth time in five games.
"We are starting to play harder, starting to really understand our team chemistry and most importantly we are playing harder on defense," said Hugunin.
Yankton trailed the entire game including 27-20 at the half, however got to within five points in the third at 35-30 and 37-32. But couldn't get any closer even behind the post play of Kelsey Fitzgerald who scored 16 points and was 7-10 from the floor. She hopes to play college basketball at UN-Kearney.
