DE SMET 52, PARKER 34
HURON, SD -- Rylie Osthus scored 20 points to lead De Smet to a 52-34 first-round victory over Parker on Thursday at the South Dakota Class B girls basketball tournament.

Osthus also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out three assists as the second-seeded Bulldogs (23-1) pulled away in the second half to advance to the semifinals. De Smet, leading 23-21 at the half, outscored the Pheasants 29-13 after the intermission.

Amanda Poppen added 10 points and Taylor Schoenfelder scored nine points for De Smet, which shot 39 percent from the field while holding Parker to 24 percent.

MicalAnne Hanten led Parker (15-9) with 11 points. Tessa Weeldreyer finished with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

SULLY BUTTES 55, SANBORN CENTRAL-WOONSOCKET 48
HURON, SD -- Remi Wientjes had 18 points and Karlea Stahl added 16 as Sully Buttes defeated Sanborn Central-Woonsocket 55-48 Thursday at the South Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament.

Wientjes made six of 10 shots from the field and went 5-for-6 from the free throw line for the Chargers (21-3), who had been outscoring opponents by 30 points.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket (22-2) was within two points with 2:31 to play. It was close down the stretch.

The Chargers were 29-for-40 from the free throw line. Stahl was 12-for-15.

Myah Selland had 13 points and Rachel Selland 11 for the Hawks, who made 18 of 28 shots from the line.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket shot 50 percent from the field, while Sully Buttes shot 35 percent.

WARNER 63, TIMBER LAKE 43
HURON, SD -- Miranda Ristau had 27 points and nine rebounds as top-seed Warner opened the South Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament with a 63-43 win over Timber Lake on Thursday.

Ristau was good on 11 of 13 shots from the field and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line. She had 15 points at the half.

Warner (23-1) is making its first tournament appearance since 1996. It raced out to a 25-9 lead early in the game.

The Monarchs got 16 points from Rachel Rogers and 15 from Ashley Rozell. They shot 65 percent from the field and outrebounded the Panthers 28-12.

Kristie Mettler had 17 points for Timber Lake (16-8). Courtney Dahlgren added three 3-pointers and 13 points.
