MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota will take its 23rd regular-season Big Ten baseball title and the top seed into the conference tournament this week.

The Gophers will start the double-elimination draw Wednesday against eighth-seeded Iowa at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. Last year, they finished 21-30 and missed the Big Ten tournament altogether.

The Gophers have not been to the NCAA tournament since 2010, which was also the last time they finished first in the regular-season conference standings and won the Big Ten tournament.

The Gophers lead the conference with a .328 team batting average. They're 34-18 overall and 16-7 in league play.
