Opponents of a new Walmart in Sioux Falls have sued the city in an attempt to stop the new store from being built. The group - Save Our Neighborhood - says that the proposed store was illegally annexed into the city limits.

They argue that the city should have obtained approval from Lincoln County before they annexed the land. Dana Palmer, a spokeswoman for the group, says the City Council has not listened to the concerns of local residents who don't want the store.

The city did not comment on the pending litigation, but did say that the annexation did not require approval if the property owner agrees to the move.

A vote on the rezoning of the annexed land is scheduled for next month.
