The Harrisburg teenager accused of shooting and injuring his principal back in 2015 has received a suspended sentence.

KDLT News is reporting that 18 year-old Mason Buhl pleaded guilty to attempted murder on Wednesday (August 9).

The plea stems back to an incident that took place on (September 30), 2015 when Buhl, who was 16 at the time brought a handgun to Harrisburg High School and shot Principal Kevin Lein in the right arm.

Two Harrisburg High School staff members came to Lein's aid at the time of the shooting by tackling and restraining Buhl. No one else was harmed during the incident.

On Wednesday, a judge suspended all 25 years of Buhl’s sentence and ordered him to serve 15 years on supervised probation while being committed to a mental health treatment program according to the KDLT News report.

Buhl, who earlier was found competent to stand trial, ended up being charged as an adult for attempted murder and the commission of a felony while armed with a firearm.
