Harrisburg Tigers Football Secures First Win Over Sioux Falls School in New Era

This past Friday night was a special one for the Harrisburg Tigers. For the first time in school history, the team has defeated a Sioux Falls school.

Harrisburg defeated Washington on Friday (September 6) night 28-15 to pick up its first win against a big-city team. The Tigers transitioned to Class 11AAA for this season, but they have played against Lincoln, Roosevelt, and O'Gorman over the past few years. Entering this past Friday night, Harrisburg was a combined 0-6 against Sioux Falls schools.

It has been a continually growing process for Harrisburg. The team has been a member of every class of 11-man football that South Dakota has to offer. Harrisburg won Class 11B titles in 1984/1993/1997/1999 and played in championship games as members of 11A (2010/2012) and 11AA (2016/2017).

Now as members of Class 11AAA, Harrisburg will look to continue to build. The team has opened the 2019 season with a 2-0 record with wins over Rapid City Central and Washington.
