There is a four-star prospect out of Hopkins High School in Minnesota that needs to end up with the University of Minnesota.

That prospect is a flat out stud who can shoot and score with the best of them and his name is Kerwin Walton.

This week in the Star Tribune, they reported that Walton has narrowed down his options to six programs including the Gophers.

Those other programs include Arizona, North Carolina, Creighton, Georgetown, and Vanderbilt.

Over the years, the Gophers have let way too many in-state prospects get out of the state and has hurt their overall success.

Not only is the program on the hot seat to get a talent like Walton, but head coach Richard Pitino is also well known and this is a recruit he needs to land.

Walton could change some of those fortunes, give the Gophers an immediate impact player and the perceptions on the recruiting trail in the state could change as well.
