CLEVELAND (AP) - The Indians activated starting center fielder Michael Bourn from the 15-day disabled list after sweeping a four-game series from Oakland.

Bourn had been sidelined since slicing open his right index finger while diving into first base on April 14. He was eligible to return on April 30, but the cut didn't heal in time and Bourn needed some extra time.

Bourn is expected to play this weekend when the Indians play a three-game series against first-place Detroit.

To make room for Bourn, the Indians optioned left-hander Scott Barnes to Triple-A Columbus. Barnes snagged a hard comebacker for the final out of Cleveland's 9-2 win on Thursday.

Bourn was batting .333 in 10 games before he got hurt. The Indians signed the two-time All-Star to a four-year, $48 million free agent contract in February.
