Iowa State Football got off on the wrong foot this last weekend to their 2014 season with a  loss to FCS power NDSU at home in Ames, IA.

To add insult to injury, their prized center and clear leader on offense, Tom Farniok went down and almost seemingly the Cyclones chances that day.

Now, Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads has told the Iowa State Daily that he expects  Farniok to return for this weekends game vs. Big12 foe Kansas State.

Farniok is a a former Washington High standout from Sioux Falls and suffered the MCL injury in the early in Saturdays against the Bison.

Other than addressing the Farniok injury, ISU has to be more aggressive up front on both offense and defense and NDSU manhandled them in the trenches.

Starting QB Sam Richardson struggled as well after emerging as the starter over Grant Rohach.  Richardson threw 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

It might be sooner than later before Rohach emerges as the starter but a strong showing from Richardson against KSU could silence some of the critics.

Iowa State hosts #20 Kansas State on Saturday, Sept. 6th at 11amCT on Fox Sports 1.
