VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Max Landis missed his first shot of the game, a 3-pointer, but not many more as he poured in a school-record 44 points to lead IPFW past South Dakota, 95-82 on Thursday night.

The red-shirt senior shot 15-for-21 from the floor, including 11-for-15 from 3-point range to help Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne reach a school-record 20 3-pointers in the game.

Fort Wayne (19-6, 8-2 Summit League) has posted its best start in program history as a Division I school.

Tre Burnette made four 3-pointers and Logan Power added another as South Dakota (10-14, 2-8) tried to rally in the last three minutes, but was unable to overcome IPFW's 19-point lead.

Burnette led the Coyotes with 18 points and five assists, Tyler Flack 17 added points and Trey Norris 16.

After Landis, DeAngelo Stewart scored 17 points, Michael Calder 14 and John Konchar 13 with 10 assists and six rebounds.
