ST. PAUL, MN -- A late goal from Concordia-St. Paul broke a tie and the Vikings suffered a 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon.  The Vikings fall to 4-6-2 overall and 3-4-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action while the Golden Bears improve to 6-5-1, 5-2-1 in NSIC play.

The Golden Bears found the back of the net first after a flurry of shots led to a rebound and Amanda Olsen put it away for a 1-0 lead.  Augustana's offense was more active in the first half creating several scoring chances, but couldn't get on the board.

The Vikings out-shot Concordia-St. Paul 6-5 and equaled the Golden Bears' two shots on goal with two themselves.

Kara Bartels wasted no time in the second half as she launched a shot just outside the six-yard box and beat the goalkeeper up high.   This was Bartels' third goal of the season and it breaks a 220 minute scoring drought spanning three games.

In the waning minutes of the game, Olsen struck again for the Golden Bears to break the tie.  The 84th minute goal proved to be the game-winner for CU and they went on to win.

The Vikings held Concordia-St. Paul to only three shots in the second half while taking seven themselves, but the Golden Bears found the net on one of their shots.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Wagner was knocked out of the game with an injury sustained on the first goal of the game.

Bartels and Maren Werth paced the offense with three shots each and Bartels logged the only goal for Augustana.

The Vikings return home to host University of Mary and Minot State next weekend.
