LAKE ANDES - South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says one of two adults arrested after a 2-year-old girl was found dead in their Wagner home has pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, keeping a place for use or sale of drugs and failure to report the death of a child.

Jackley says that 28-year-old Laurie Cournoyer entered the plea Tuesday. He says it marks the first conviction under South Dakota's version of Caylee's law, which became law July 1.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 14 in Charles Mix County.

Prosecutors say the 2-year-old girl's body was in a closet for nearly two days in July before Cournoyer and her husband, Taylor, reported her death.

Taylor Cournoyer pleaded guilty to drug charges as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
