LEAD, S.D. (AP) - A jury has convicted a former Lead man of helping scam his mother-in-law.

Fifty-three-year-old Kenneth Thomason and his wife, Kimberly, were accused of tricking her mother into signing over her interest in a Lead hotel in 2008. Authorities say the couple sold the hotel and fled to the Dominican Republic with the money.

The Rapid City Journal reports that Kenneth Thomason was convicted of aggravated grand theft by deception and could face more than 15 years in prison.

Kimberly Thomason earlier pleaded guilty to being an accessory and was sentenced to eight months in jail.
