The yellow perch is one of the most coveted fish in South Dakota - and now we've got the new state record.

Chase Jensen from Aurora landed the monster on Bitter Lake on Saturday. The perch weighed in at 2 pounds 13 ounces.

Amazingly, the fish beat the previous record by two ounces, which was caught eleven years ago in the same lake! State officials say that late ice conditions often send large, pre-spawn panfish on a feeding frenzy.

Fishing road trip, anyone?
