Ever since last season ended, Mitchell native Mike Miller has been telling anyone who will listen, "I'm NOT retiring". True to his word, Miller will be in Miami when the World Champion Heat opening training camp September 29th.

The oft-injured Miller was weighing back surgery during the off season, but opted against it telling Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel:

"I basically looked at my options and back surgery, with Dr. Green pretty confident that we could get it to where I need to be without it. So we’re slowly but surely getting there.

My body feels good. Like I said, we’ve just got to be smart about it."

"It’s a long haul like we found out the last two seasons, you’ve just got to make sure you’re smart about it early."

got to give me some time. It’s the longest I’ve ever been off without shooting the ball."

The upcoming season will be Miller's 13 in the NBA.  The 32-year-old has played in 54 or fewer games each of the last three seasons because of injuries.

In his career Miller is averaging 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game with the Magic, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Wizards, and Heat.
