COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Austin Athmann went 4 for 4 with two runs and Minnesota beat Wake Forest 8-3 in an elimination game in the NCAA Tournament's College Station Regional Sunday.

Second-seeded Minnesota (36-21) faces top-seed Texas A and M (47-14) later on Sunday in the regional finals, and will have to beat the Aggies twice to advance to the Super Regionals.

Minnesota blew open a close game with a four-run eighth inning. Alex Boxwell led off with a double and moved to third on Matt Fiedler's single. Fiedler stole second and both runners scored on Micah Coffey's double. Athmann singled to center to plate Coffey. Toby Hanson singled, Athmann moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a sacrifice fly.

Gophers starter Lucas Gilbreath gave up one earned run over 4 2/3 innings.

Wake Forest, which beat Minnesota in the regional's first round, ends its season at 35-27.
