MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota forward Charles Buggs will leave the program to play elsewhere in his final year of eligibility.

Buggs received his undergraduate degree from the university earlier this month. The Gophers announced Tuesday that the 6-foot-9, 230-pound Buggs, who is from Arlington, Texas, will continue his career elsewhere while pursuing a graduate degree.

Coach Richard Pitino said in a statement that he's "especially proud" of Buggs for graduating. He was the only remaining player recruited by previous coach Tubby Smith.

Buggs averaged 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 24 minutes per game last season as a junior. He's the second player to transfer out of the program this year, following freshman guard Kevin Dorsey. The Gophers went 8-23 last season.
