Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli made his major league debut in that position of leadership and what an impression he made on the players, coaching staff and fans. From the changing of the guard to a pennant race, Baldelli put his personal stamp on a record-setting season.

All that is paying off for the young skipper as Baldelli was named one of three finalists for the 2019 AL Manager of the Year Award, alongside Aaron Boone of the Yankees and longtime friend Kevin Cash of the Rays.

The Twins had their share of ups and downs but overall, wow. Minnesota tallied 101 wins for the season, the second-most in franchise history which propelled the team to win the American League Central Division. And in his first season as manager Baldelli becomes only the seventh in history to win 100 games in his first season.

Atlanta’s Brian Snitker is a finalist to win the NL award for the second straight season, joined by Milwaukee’s Craig Counsell and St. Louis’ Mike Shildt.

The announcements will come out on Tuesday, November 12.
