After a three-sack performance against the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the second time that Hunter has won the honor in his career. His prior achievement came in 2018 in a Week 9 win over the Detroit Lions. Hunter led the Vikings defense this past weekend against the Lions with three sacks and six tackles in the 20-7 victory.

Hunter's three sacks also secured a new record for the young defensive linemen. He is the youngest player in NFL history to reach 50 sacks for his career. Hunter was 25 years and 40 days old when he secured the record.

Minnesota (9-4) heads on the road this weekend to take on the Los Angeles Chargers. This weekend's game can be heard on ESPN 99.1 beginning at 3:25 PM.
