Police have called off its search for a burglary suspect. Authorities will continue to patrol the area, but the active search has ended. They do say they have a 'person of interest' in the case.

The Sioux Falls Police Department began the search at approximately 9:30 am this morning.

KELO-TV reported that the owners of an abandoned farm on 260th Street surprised a burglar, who then fled on foot. According to the homeowners, the suspect was armed with a shotgun.

Once authorities arrived on scene, they found a bag that held burglary tools and shotgun shells, so they are working under the assumption the gun is loaded. The man ran into a slough near the home, which is just north of the entrance to McCrossan Boys Ranch.  Milstead says due to the clothing the man is wearing, he blends into the landscape, making him hard to spot.

Police conducted a search of the area with officers from the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Department, Sioux Falls Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol and includes a search plane.

The McCrossan home was put on lockdown during the investigation.

It is apparent that police know who the suspect is. Argus 911 is reported:
