The NHL, just like all sports have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as 27 players had confirmed positive COVID-19 tests during training camps, according to a report from ESPN by the NHL.

The Dallas-Florida season-opening series has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. That series, so far, is the only one as five games are on the schedule for tonight and ten for Thursday.

The defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning will have their banner raising ceremony tonight before they host the Chicago Blackhawks. Lord Stanley will be in the building, however, sans fans.

Minnesota Wild begin the season on the west coast Thursday as they face the Los Angeles Kings in this 56-game 2021 regular season. Plus, teams have been realigned into divisions based on location to minimize travel.

The Wild season home opener is Friday, January 22 against the San Jose Sharks at the Xcel Energy Center.
