DURHAM, NC -- Sioux Falls Pheasants infielder Cesar Nicolas has been named as the third baseman for the American Association’s Postseason All-Star team, the league announced on Saturday.

Selections to the team were determined by vote from team managers and media personnel.

Nicolas, 30, has a team-best .334 average, seventh highest in the league. His 79 RBI rank third in the league, and he leads the circuit with 34 doubles and 47 extra-base hits. He has also cracked 12 home runs.

“We as an organization are very proud of Cesar,” Pheasants manager Steve Shirley said. “He has worked very hard all year and is very deserving of this honor.”

The veteran hitter has been remarkably consistent and has played in all but one game this season. He has hit safely in 75 of 96 games played and leads the team with 30 multi-hit performances. During the month of June, the Nicolas had a career-best, 19-game hitting streak, one of the longest in team history. On two separate occasions he collected six RBI in one game.

Nicolas is in his eighth professional season and first with the Pheasants.
