SIOUX FALLS, SD -- The Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants are pleased to announce their 2013 season schedule. The Pheasants will once again play a 100-game unbalanced schedule beginning on the road May 16th in Sioux City against the Explorers. The Pheasants home opener is set for Friday, May 17th at 7:05 PM against the Explorers. Sioux Falls will once again play 50 home and 50 away games.

The Pheasants are looking to build off the momentum built last season at the gate in which they saw a 72% increase in attendance, one of the largest in all of professional baseball. Sioux Falls averaged nearly 2,700 fans a game last season at Sioux Falls Stadium.

The schedule is highlighted by 24 weekend dates (7 Fridays, 9 Saturdays, 8 Sundays). The schedule will also have a holiday feel with games Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. Games this season will start at 7:05 PM (Monday-Saturday) and 1:05 PM (Sunday’s).

Sioux Falls will face rival Sioux City eight times this season while hosting Lincoln and Winnipeg seven times. The Pheasants home opening series will take place May 17th, 18th and 19th against Sioux City. Sioux Falls longest homestand consists of eight games from July 6th through July 13th. There will be two afternoon day games, June 11th and September 2nd which is also Labor Day. Those games will start at 12:05 PM. The Pheasants will close out the regular season at home with a three-game homestand against Amarillo, August 31st through September 2nd.

The American Association will once have 13 teams in the league this season with three divisions (North, Central and South). Sioux Falls will remain in the North Division along with Fargo-Moorhead, Winnipeg and St. Paul. Each team will play an interleague series against an opponent from the Can-Am League. The Pheasants will host a team (TBD) from the Can-Am league, July 30-August 1st.

The playoff format remains the same as three division winners and one wild-card will qualify for the playoffs which will begin on September 5th. The playoffs will be two-rounds, best-of-five format.

The Pheasants are also pleased to announce that ticket prices will remain the same for the upcoming season. Tickets are priced at $7, $10 and $12 per-game.  The Pheasants promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
