ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — The Presentation College Saints have a new mascot — a 10-week-old St. Bernard.

College President Margaret Huber says officials at the Aberdeen school have been talking about the move for more than a year. She says it's an opportunity to create a new symbol for the college.

Administrators say the St. Bernard breed is known for being people-oriented, strong and friendly, and will symbolize qualities of the college.

The mascot will appear at athletic events, parades, student orientations and special events. The college is holding a contest to name the female dog.
