LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says Raheem Sterling was not acting like a top-level professional after the young winger was apparently filmed inhaling nitrous oxide, the legal high often called "laughing gas."

Images in Tuesday's edition of British newspaper The Sun appeared to show the 20-year-old Sterling, one of England's top players, taking the substance. They emerged two days after The Sunday Mirror published pictures of Sterling apparently smoking a shisha pipe.

Rodgers says "it is something that when you are a professional sportsperson at the top level of the game, I don't think it is something you should be doing."

Rodgers says he will talk to Sterling about the incident.

Sterling recently gave an unsanctioned interview saying he'd rejected a new deal at Liverpool worth 100,000 pounds ($146,000) a week.
