Roosevelt and Lincoln Split Doubleheader to End Regular Season Schedule
The regular season has come to a close for Class AA on Tuesday night and was highlighted by two games at Roosevelt.
Roosevelt and Lincoln met in a doubleheader to finish out both schedules on the boys and girls side. Roosevelt defeated Lincoln 57-37 in the girls matchup, while the Lincoln boys beat the Roosevelt boys 63-50.
Tagyn Larson for Roosevelt charged the Rough Riders forward with a game high 33 points. She also added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Roosevelt also received great production from Jamie Spicer (nine points), and Brooke Luitjens (seven points). The Rough Riders (8-11) are peaking at the right time heading towards district play, as they have now won three straight.
Lincoln (14-6) has lost three straight games with the loss on Tuesday night. Lincoln was led by Anna Brecht's 13 points, and Izzy VanVeldhuizen added eight. Lincoln will host the winner of the District 2 play in game next Monday night.
The nightcap featured two teams that are already set in their positions in their respective districts. The Patriots outscored the Rough Riders 21-9 in the 3rd quarter to spark their 63-50 win. Lincoln was led by Addison Park, who scored 26 in the contest. Kaleb Johnson added 14, and Nickel Meyers had seven for Lincoln. Roosevelt's Taryn Christion led the team with 18 points.
Lincoln now moves on to host Yankton in a District 2 matchup next Tuesday night. Roosevelt will host Watertown in the opening round of the District 1 tournament.
