FARGO, ND -- Kyle Ruwe saved his best for last and was spectacular in his final start of the 2014 season.

The bearded righthander allowed just one run and four hits over seven dominant innings, all while striking out a season-high seven and not issuing a walk.  The Sioux Falls (33-66) offense provided all the support Ruwe would need and the Canaries cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (42-56).

Chris Valencia plated home the first run of the game in the 4th inning and the Canaries' lead doubled to 2-0 in the 5th when Ty Forney doubled in Kevin Dultz.

With Ruwe (6-8) locked in, the real offensive explosion came in the 6th with the Birds scoring six runs and chasing Fargo starter Nate Garcia (0-4) from the game.  The first run scored on an error by first baseman Michael Thompson and Kevin Dultz then drove in two runs on his single.  Brandon Jones followed up with a two-run triple and AJ Kirby-Jones capped off the inning with an RBI single to make it 8-0.

John Brebbia worked the 8th for the Canaries and Alan DeRatt finished it off with a scorless 9th.

The Birds can earn a series split with a win on Monday, which marks the end of the 2014 season.  First pitch will be at 1:02 PM.
