Tuesday, at a news conference, city officials announced the Sioux Falls Arena will be getting a new basketball court that will be used during next month's Summit League men and women's basketball tournament.

The new court will cost 100,000, and the city of Sioux Falls will pay for the court. The court will be installed on March 7, two days before the tournament begins. The tournament runs from March 9 to March 12.

A new NCAA rule does not allow decal logos on the court to help increase player safety.

The new court will have the Summit league logo in the middle of the court, as well as, "The Summit League At the Falls." "At the Falls," will be in orange letters, while all the other letters will be blue.

The words, "Sioux Falls," will be at each baseline. Meanwhile, the court is yellow, with the free throw lanes slightly shaded, and outside of the court will be brown.

City director of community development Darrin Smith told Argus Leader, "The court design is a very modern look, it's a first class look and will really get the area sports enthusiasts excited about what's to come."

This is the Arena's fourth court used in their current building. The current court is the Arena's first court installed.

The court used for the Summit League tournament will also be used for State Class AA boys basketball tournament, March 14-16, and then will be used at the new Denny Sanford Premier Center next year when it opens.
