SIOUX FALLS - Sioux Falls officials plan to review safety measures at Falls Park after the recent drowning deaths of two people in the Big Sioux River.

Twenty-eight-year-old Lyle Eagle Tail, of Sioux Falls, and 16-year-old Madison Wallace, of Vermillion, died late last week when they jumped into the falls to try to rescue Wallace's 6-year-old brother Garrett, who had fallen into the water but eventually got out.

City Parks Director Don Kearney tells the Argus Leader ( ) that officials will be discussing possible measures such as fencing and lifelines to go along with the existing safety signs at the city's signature attraction. It draws an estimated 525,000 visitors each year.

Kearney says the goal is for the area to be as safe as possible without restricting access.
