Briante Weber will be sporting another NBA jersey’s colors very soon. The Charlotte Hornets have extended a 10-day contract to the Sioux Falls Skyforce alum.

Various reports including The Vertical’s Shams Charania told of the news after Golden State had 20 days to utilize Weber, but elected not to retain the point guard.

Weber's stats with Golden State over 7 games may look small with 1.7 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.4 steals in 6.6 minutes. However, what should carry more weight are words from Steph Curry who noted the impact of Weber’s time during an interview captured by KNBR Radio in San Francisco.

Charlotte was one of three teams considering adding Weber back in early February when Weber eventually chose the Warriors. The Hornets countered by signing NBADL prospect Ray McCallum to fill that roster spot, but did not play a game during his call-up.

Weber will have the benefit of not having to fly across country to hook up with the Hornets with their next outing Tuesday (February 28) in Los Angeles against the Lakers. Plus an interesting scenario will arrive on March 8 just before this 10-day contract expires when the Hornets travel to Miami to face the Heat who opted to send Weber to Sioux Falls instead of retaining him on the roster out of preseason.

Other games in the upcoming set for Charlotte feature at Phoenix (March 2), at Denver (March 4) and at home against Indiana (March 6). The Hornets are currently 2.5 games back of Detroit for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot with Milwaukee and Miami just one game back.
