One season removed from earning the NBA Development League Defensive Player of the Year award, DeAndre Liggins has opted to play overseas to start the 2014-15 season.

A key figure in spurring the Sioux Falls Skyforce 2013-14 playoff run, Liggins will showcase his talents in Russia after signing a contract on October 15.  According to Chuck Myron at Hoops Rumors, Liggins was close to landing a spot in the Los Angeles Clippers fall camp after making good impressions for the Clippers Summer League team.

In this case the deal fell through and Liggins opted for the international route.  Liggins joins former NBADL prospects Marcus Cousin (RGV, Austin) and D.J. Kennedy (Erie, RGV) in the lineup for Krasny Oktyabr.

Liggins has appeared in 3 games through October 25 and has made little impact averaging 16 minutes, 1.6 points and 3 rebounds per game.
