Playoff spots are up for grabs as the last few weeks of the regular season are ahead. Here are the latest football rankings as of October 2, 2017.

The top teams in each class seem to be positioning themselves high above. For the first time this season, four of the seven classes have the top ranked teams receiving all first place votes.

All teams remain in the top five from last week outside of three. Just three teams that received votes last week moved up this week. Let's take a look at how it all shook out.

Class 11AAA

  1. SF Washington (32) 6-0 160 1
  2. SF Roosevelt 5-1 105 3
  3. SF O’Gorman 4-2 93 2
  4. Brandon Valley 4-2 68 4
  5. RC Stevens 3-3 17 5

Receiving votes: Aberdeen Central 15.

Jerry Palleschi's Thoughts:

This is exactly how I voted in the poll this week. Each of these teams, outside of beating each other up, have proven that they are the top five of 11AAA. Washington has looked beatable a couple of times but have wins over each of the other ranked teams. RHS jumps O'G due to the head-to-head victory this past week. Brandon Valley and RCS also split due to a head-to-head win.

Class 11AA

  1. Mitchell (25) 5-1 153 1
  2. Pierre (7) 5-1 134 2
  3. Harrisburg 3-3 95 3
  4. Brookings 2-4 55 5
  5. Douglas 2-4 34 4

Receiving votes: Yankton 5, Sturgis 3, Huron 2.

Jerry Palleschi's Thoughts:

Again, right in line with how I voted this week. Mitchell and Pierre have separated themselves at the top of the list. Harrisburg is back on the winning ways after a victory over Watertown. Brookings was shut out to 11AAA's Washington, but not penalized for it. The last spot has become just a position as the teams vying for it continue to struggle in their games each week.

Class 11A

  1. Madison (32) 6-0 160 1
  2. Dakota Valley 6-0 126 3
  3. Dell Rapids 5-1 96 4
  4. Tea Area 5-1 62 2
  5. Tri-Valley 4-2 23 5

Receiving votes: St. Thomas More 5, Milbank 4, Pine Ridge 4.

Jerry Palleschi's Thoughts:

3-3 on the votes going the same direction as my own personal thoughts. Madison is without question the team to beat in the class. Dakota Valley continues to be a strong team that has earned their way to the second spot playing a fairly tough schedule. Dell Rapids and Tea Area separated by head-to-head win.

Class 11B

  1. Sioux Valley (24) 6-0 151 1
  2. Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan (8) 5-1 133 2
  3. SF Christian 5-1 94 3
  4. Winner 5-1 69 4
  5. Woon./Wess. Springs/S. Central 5-1 25 RV

Receiving votes: McCook Central/Montrose 8.

Jerry Palleschi's Thoughts:

Sioux Valley has two quality wins on their resume to stay at the top spot in the rankings. Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan will have their chance at Sioux Valley in the last week of the regular season. Sioux Falls Christian is back on a winning streak following a 44-0 win over Flandreau. Winner has found themselves positioned in that 4th spot with a loss to Sioux Falls Christian being their lone detriment. Finally, the Blackhawks are on a four game winning streak to get themselves into the top five.

Class 9AA

  1. Gregory (32)   6-0 160 1
  2. Hamlin 6-0 127 2
  3. Miller/Highmore-Harrold 5-1 77 4
  4. Bon Homme 5-2 60 3
  5. Baltic 5-1 41 RV

Receiving votes: Irene-Wakonda 7, North Border 6, Arlington/Lake Preston 2.

Class 9A

  1. Corsica-Stickney (32) 6-0 160 1
  2. Warner 6-1 119 2
  3. Howard 5-1 101 3
  4. Britton-Hecla  5-1 60 5
  5. Clark/Willow Lake  6-1 27 RV

Receiving votes: Canistota/Freeman 7, Avon 6.

Class 9B

  1. Colman-Egan (27) 6-0 152 1
  2. Colome (5) 6-0 124 2
  3. Sully Buttes 6-0 103 3
  4. Castlewood 6-0 54 4
  5. Harding County 7-0 36 5

Receiving votes: Wall 8, Faulkton Area 3.
