SIOUX FALLS, SD -- The Sioux Falls Stampede announced Friday that they have acquired forward Ryan Schwalbe and a 12th round pick in the 2014 Phase 2 USHL Draft from the Youngstown Phantoms in exchange for defenseman Bo Pellah and a 6th round draft pick in the 2014 Phase 2 USHL Draft.

Schwalbe recorded 9 points (3g, 6a) in 29 games with the Phantoms this season. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound centerman was a third round draft choice of the Phantoms in the USHL Entry Draft last season. Prior to joining the Phantoms, Schwalbe played for the Salmon Arm SilverBacks in the BCHL where he recorded 21 points in 53 games.

The Anchorage, Alaska native spent from 2009 to 2012 playing Midget Prep hockey at Shattuck St. Mary’s in Minnesota. In 2011-12, Schwalbe recorded 57 points in 57 games at Shattuck St. Mary’s. He has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato.

Pellah was in his first season with the Herd and recorded 16 points (3g, 13a) in 31 games.

Schwalbe is expected to join the Stampede immediately and could make his debut Friday as the Herd host the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7:05 PM.
