The opening weekend of the 2015 Summit League basketball season continues with a new wrinkle for this season: Sunday afternoon games.

A trio of local teams are on the docket, all on the road.

South Dakota State has a women's/men's doubleheader in Fargo Saturday afternoon.

The Jackrabbit women play the early game against North Dakota State.  SDSU swept the season series last year, winning both games by 20 points or more.

The Bison are in their first season under new head coach Maren Walseth, but boast the leading scorer in the Summit League during non-conference play - guard Brooke LeMar, who is averaging 18 points a game.

The Jacks did a nice job defensively against LeMar last season, limiting her to less than 35 percent shooting.

The Jackrabbit men follow with the Bison in a game that will feature two teams struggling for an identity.

SDSU lost more than 60 percent of its scoring from last season's team, while NDSU deals with replacing their three leading scorers from last season - Taylor Braun, TrayVonn Wright, and Marshall Bjorklund.

Like the women, the Bison men have a new head coach, David Richman, who was promoted after Saul Phillips left for Ohio University during the off-season.

Guard Lawrence Alexander leads NDSU, and the Summit League in scoring, averaging just under 17 points a game.

The South Dakota men play at Denver Sunday, the beginning of a stretch that will see the Coyotes play five of their next six games on the road.

The Pioneers are led by sharp shooting guard Brett Olson, one of the top three point shooters in the Summit League.  Olson hit 10 3's and scored 55 points in a season split with USD in 2014.

Denver's attack is very deliberate, as evidenced by a scoring average near the bottom of the conference and a very stingy defense.

USD head coach Craig Smith on the match-up:

Tipoff is 2:00pm CST in Denver.
