SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - With only a week and a half remaining until the season opener at home against Northwestern, Syracuse coach Doug Marrone doesn't have a whole lot to talk about.

He says in a press conference Wednesday night that "conditioning is a concern right now."

Marrone says there's still competition for starting spots with some groups and wishes it would have separated itself better by now. He says he and his staff will make those decisions within the next few days and start getting ready for the season.

With classes beginning next week, Marrone says the players have to get settled in over the next two days to "get them ready to go academically" before preparing for the Wildcats.

Marrone did announce that doctors had recommended that sophomore offensive tackle Kristofer Curtis stop playing football because of injury.
