Clarkson ended Minnesota’s two-year run as NCAA women’s hockey champions. Shannon MacAulay scored on a breakaway with 4:16 left in the third to help give Clarkson a 5-4 victory on Sunday.

Former Sioux Falls Stampede goaltender Stephon Williams was selected by the New York Islanders in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft Sunday night. Williams becomes the 27th former Stampede player to be drafted by a National Hockey League team.

Former Sioux Falls Stampede goaltender Juho Olkinuora has signed an NHL entry level contract with the Winnipeg Jets. He has been assigned to the Jets top affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps, of the AHL.

This wasn’t just another title game. Minnesota had the sport’s first perfect season in sight. Amanda Kessel scored twice, and the Gophers beat Boston University 6-3 on Sunday to become the first undefeated team in the 13-year history of NCAA women’s hockey, and run their winning streak to 49 straight games.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers only need one more victory to become the first team in women's college hockey to finish with a perfect record. The Gophers play Boston University Sunday for the national championship, taking a 48-game winning streak onto their home ice at Ridder Arena.

Minnesota’s Rachael Bona scored with 1:09 left in the third overtime to give the Golden Gophers a 3-2 win over North Dakota in the NCAA women’s hockey quarterfinals. Saturday’s win extended Minnesota’s winning streak to an NCAA-record 47 games.

Wisconsin scored three times in the second period and held on to beat second-ranked Minnesota 3-2 Sunday in the Hockey City Classic at Soldier Field.
