MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Kyle Gibson has finally arrived with the Minnesota Twins. The team is counting on this long-awaited promotion the team being permanent.

Gibson was called up from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday. Gibson traveled on Monday to join the Twins in Miami. He is scheduled to make his major league debut on Saturday at home against Kansas City. The 25-year-old right-hander was the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2009 draft.

Gibson needed Tommy John ligament replacement surgery on his throwing elbow in 2011, so the Twins have been treating him carefully. That might mean an early end to his season once he reaches a certain amount of innings. The Twins haven't specified what that number might be.
