Tubby Smith had the most wins in the first five years of the Minnesota Gophers program and just got the Gophers a win in the NCAA Tournament, yet it wasn't enough to keep his job.

Athletic Director Norwood Teague officially made the announcement Monday afternoon that the program would be moving on without Coach Smith.

He won 124 games in his tenure and was consistently a team in the NCAA Tournament.

The critics complain that Tubby wasn't able to win in February and his under .500 record in the conference was probably his demise.

The coaching search has begun as Minnesota tries to move forward in a new direction, but are they going to be able to find a different coach who was better than Tubby Smith.
