Two impressive games bring honors to two members of the Sioux Falls Skyforce.   Both  Demetris Nichols and Donald Sloan were named NBA Development League Co-Performers of the Week for games played Jan. 28-Feb. 3.  The duo led the Skyforce to a 2-0 record last week.

Nichols (6-6, 211, Syracuse) averaged 30.0 points on 63 percent shooting from the field to go with 4.0 rebounds and 0.5 assists in two games for the Skyforce last week.  He scored a season-high 34 points on 12-of-20 shooting on Feb. 1 in a thrilling 117-114 overtime win over the Reno Bighorns.  Nichols sat for much of the fourth quarter on Saturday against Reno as the Skyforce romped to a 105-87 win.  The award is the second for Nichols this season, having first earned it on Jan. 21.

Sloan (6-3, 205, Texas A&M) finished the week averaging 18.0 points, 9.5 assists and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from the floor.  He recorded a triple-double of the season when he finished with 22 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds in Friday night’s win over Reno.

Beyond the weekly honor, Nichols was also named to participate in the 2013 NBA Development League All-Star Game. The seventh annual NBA D-League All-Star Game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Sprint Arena at NBA All-Star Jam Session at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center.

Nichols is currently averaging 17.8 point and 5.0 rebounds through 27 games (all starts). He was named Performer of the Week for games played Jan. 14-20.  The 6-8, 215-pound forward has appeared in 18 NBA games with the Chicago Bulls (13), Cleveland Cavaliers (3) and New York Knicks (2).

The field of 20 players was selected by a vote of the NBA D-League’s 16 head coaches and was broken into two teams by League officials. Players were eligible to be selected based on having played in half of their team’s games through Jan. 27. Each player must be on an active NBA D-League roster at the time of the NBA D-League All-Star Game in order to compete.
