Seems this year is a bad year for games to come out on time, particularly for Ubisoft. The publisher announced today South Park: The Stick of Truth would not release in December, but in 2014 instead.

South Park: The Stick of Truth had already been delayed several times in the past, but those issues could easily be attributed to the troubles Obsidian had with THQ's bankruptcy and the shift to working on the game under Ubisoft's banner. It was believed South Park might make its Dec. 12 release date, as a collector's edition was planned, and the game had a showing at New York Comic Con to promote its upcoming holiday release. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a few months more to experience the South Park RPG.

“Within three weeks after acquiring the game, we sadly realized we had to turn this thing upside down if we hoped to deliver the experience everybody wanted,” said Ubisoft North America’s president Laurent Detoc on the company's blog. “It’s been such a major overhaul to get to the point where we are that we couldn’t let it go, even if that meant missing December.”

“We always wanted the game to feel like you’re actually in an episode of South Park,” added Matt Stone and Trey Parker. “Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we’re excited to say it’s taken way longer than we thought it would.”

South Park: The Stick of Truth will now release on March 4, 2014. Maybe. We'll believe it when we actually have a copy of the game in our hands.
