UMass Center Lalanne Suspended Following Arrest
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts coach Derek Kellogg has indefinitely suspended sophomore center Cady Lalanne following his weekend arrest for allegedly interfering with a police officer at a campus dance.
Police say Lalanne was arrested at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday on charges of disorderly conduct, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Police say Lalanne's friend hadn't paid admission and that the player interfered with police trying to remove the friend.
Kellogg said in a statement Monday that he will monitor the situation and make a decision about the length of the suspension within the next few days.
Lalanne was averaging 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds for UMass (3-3).
Jones followed Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly at Cincinnati and also at Central Michigan, where Jones was 27-13 in three seasons beginning in 2004.
