Oakland used a big second half to down South Dakota 59-46 in Summit League play Thursday.  The Golden Grizzlies used a 13-2 run over a five minute stretch of the second half to turn a one-point lead into a 12-point advantage.

Oakland did something most teams haven't been able to do against USD this season, dominate on the boards.  The Golden Grizzlies were plus-18 against the third best rebounding team in the Summit League, including 18 offensive rebounds and a 26-16 advantage on points in the paint.

Olivia Nash led all scorers with 18 points, Tempestt Wilson had 16 for South Dakota.

Neither team shot the ball well in the first half, as USD hit 27 percent of their shots, Oakland 26 percent .  The numbers were even worse from behind the three-point arc, USD three-of 14, Oakland two-of-ten.

Both teams went on runs in the first 20 minutes, the Golden Grizzlies used a 9-0 stretch to build a five-point lead, but the Coyotes reeled off the last seven points of the half to lead by 22-20 at the break.  Tempestt Wilson single handedly kept USD in it early, she hit five-of-ten for 14 first half points, while the rest of the Coyote roster went just four-of-23 (17%) for a combined eight points.

USD falls to 7-5 with the loss, Oakland improves to 3-9.  The Coyotes play at Fort Wayne Saturday.
