SIOUX FALLS -- The University of Sioux Falls Football Team will host the popular “Cougar Kids Camp” for boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Bob Young Field (USF Sports Complex, 69th and Cliff Avenue).

“We are also excited for this camp. Anytime we can positively impact young kids with a positive experience about football, it is a great for the community,” said USF head football coach Jed Stugart, whose staff along with USF football student athletes will host the free camp for a sixth straight year. “At this camp, we introduce young people to the game we love in a fun and exciting way,” he said.

It will be “Football Saturday” at USF Stadium with the camp being held directly after the Cougars football team holds its first scrimmage of spring practice at 8 a.m.

After the Cougars showcase their progress in spring ball, they will lead the non-padded youth camp, which is designed for children, who want to learn about football and have fun. Campers will received the basics in football including position fundamentals, alignment and individual technique.

“All of the instruction we do is done in an energetic and supportive atmosphere,” said Stugart, noting that all the participants will need is gym clothes (t-shirt, shorts and sneakers) and a passion for the game.

Cougars Kid Camp opens with registration at 9:30 and a welcome at 10:10. The morning also includes the “Coo Ball” demonstration, which in essence is ultimate Frisbee with a football. Later, the camp will break into various skills stations. The morning wraps up a motivational talk from Coach Stugart, which will be followed by an autograph session.

Again, the camp is FREE to attend!
