SIOUX FALLS, SD -- American Association All-Star selections were announced Monday and Sioux Falls Canaries pitcher Kyle Vazquez was among those selected by Gary SouthShore RailCats manager Greg Tagert.  The lone selection for the Canaries, Vazquez will travel to Winnipeg’s Shaw Park where the All-Star Game will be played July 29th.

Vazquez has enjoyed a fine season on the mound for the Canaries with an ERA of 3.46 in nine starts.  The righthander has been dominant over his last two outings, allowing just one run in seven innings against Wichita, arguably the best offensive team in the league, and tossing six shutout frames in Kansas City on July 4th.  Twice this season he has taken a perfect game into the 5th inning.  Vazquez holds an overall record of 4-4 this season and has logged 52 innings, allowing 52 hits while striking out 33 batters and walking 15.

The Canaries will begin a three game home series Tuesday night at 7:05 PM against the Laredo Lemurs, who currently lead the wild card race by 9.5 games over Sioux Falls.
