Defeated Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Rick Weiland isn’t giving up his fight against the Keystone XL pipeline—or soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.

In an email to supporters through his senatorial campaign today/Monday, Weiland, minced no words against the proposed pipeline or Reid.

“The only crock bigger than the Keystone Pipeline is Senate Democrats dumping on our environment to try to save one of their own,” Weiland wrote. “Talk about business as usual, talk about midterm lessons unlearned, talk about just plain stupid!”

The “one of their own” is Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), who is still locked in a runoff election against Republican challenger Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.)

The U.S. House passed a bill in support of the Keystone XL pipeline last week. The Senate is expected to take up the measure after Reid held the bill up for a vote for months as Senate Majority Leader.

Taking a page from Reid’s dismissiveness toward him, Weiland further attacked Reid and fellow Democrats for taking on a lost cause.

“You've already lost the Senate,” Weiland wrote. “Polls show that Mary Landrieu, whose runoff election you hope to influence, has absolutely no chance of winning.”

But Weiland doesn’t stop there.

“So what do you do, backstab your president, our Native Nations and the entire environmental community on behalf of a pipeline that will not only not create jobs or any energy security, but will pour additional billions in profits into the hands of the big money special interests who just spent a fortune to crush your party at the polls,” Weiland wrote.

Though not saying what his future plans are, Weiland says he has assembled a “merry band of very low maintenance truth tellers.” “Keep us going with a buck or two and you'll get the most entertaining, noisy, truth to power megaphone in America.”

The email contains links to the Democratic-centric website ActBlue.com and asks for $10, $25, $50 or $100 to continue his efforts.
