VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) - Running back Jace Hanisch threw two touchdown passes to Cody Bussell, including the game winner with 19 seconds left, as West Central beat Madison 28-21 for the state 11A championship.

On third-and-15 and the game tied at 21, Hanisch took a pitch and ran to his left before hitting Bussell for 39 yards to give the Trojans their 12th state title Thursday.

The combination also connected on a 20-yarder as the Trojans (10-2) came back from a 21-7 deficit.

Bussell ran for 63 of West Central's 251 yards. Cole Tirrel led the Spartans with 90 yards and TD runs of 25 and 15 yards.

Madison's Jacob Giles threw for 234 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on a 16-yard run.

Rush Milne ran for 58 yards for Madison (11-1) and scored on a 63-yard pass.

Preston Nordling caught seven passes for 115 yards.
