What You Need to Know About Class AA Boys District Finals on Friday

State tournament positions are on the line on Friday night in four games, while eight other teams are battling for their season to continue.

All four Sioux Falls schools will have a chance to punch a ticket to the dance, but will have to do so playing against each other. Friday night includes city rivalry games between O'Gorman/Roosevelt, and Washington/Lincoln. Here's how that came about.

District 1AA:

Sioux Falls O'Gorman had a little bit of a scare from Brookings on Tuesday night. The Knights, who entered the 4th quarter with a 42-35 lead, led by just two at the 2:27 left to play mark. They would go on to win the game 64-56. JP Costello had 14 points, while Antonio Casiello and Matt Cartwright both added 11.

O'Gorman will now host Roosevelt on Friday night following a Rough Rider victory in Watertown on Tuesday. Roosevelt entered the District 1AA tournament as the 3rd seed, but were aided by Christophe Bwanya's 13 points, and Alex Fiegen's 10. Roosevelt will now get another shot at O'Gorman after losing both meetings during the regular season.

District 1AA Championship: Sioux Falls Roosevelt @ Sioux Falls O'Gorman. 7:00
*Winner advances to the state tournament. Loser will play Tuesday night in a region game for the right to get to the tournament.

District 1AA 3rd Place: Brookings @ Watertown. 7:00
*Winner will play region game against District 2AA runner up. Loser will have season come to an end.

District 2AA

There was no problems for Sioux Falls Washington in their first district game on Tuesday night. Yankton entered the game coming off a 56-46 win over Harrisburg. Unfortunately for the Bucks shots were not connecting. Washington would take a 18-4 lead after one and never look back in route to a 69-40 victory. The Warriors were led by Isaac Goeman's 11 points.

Sioux Falls Lincoln used a 2nd half outburst to defeat Brandon Valley 67-47. Lincoln led 24-22 at halftime and went on a 21-8 run in the 3rd to help secure the win. Nolan Burchill had 18 points in the win for Lincoln.

District 2AA Championship: Sioux Falls Lincoln @ Sioux Falls Washington. 7:00
*Winner advances to the state tournament. Loser will play District 1AA 3rd place for the right to go to state on Tuesday.

District 2AA 3rd Place: Yankton @ Brandon Valley. 7:00
*Winner will play Tuesday against District 1AA runner up. Loser will have the season come to an end.

District 3AA:

The biggest upset of the night came in District 3AA. Huron, Aberdeen Central, and Pierre all entered the districts with 13 or more wins. Mitchell had a tough season going 4-16, but that didn't stop them from making waves. Mitchell pulled off the upset defeating top seeded Huron 57-48.

Pierre and Aberdeen Central would find themselves in a close game. Pierre secured the victory and the right to host Mitchell after gaining a 69-61 win.

District 3AA Championship: Mitchell @ Pierre. 7:00
*Winner qualifies for the state tournament. Loser will play District 4AA 3rd place for the right to go to the tournament.

District 3AA 3rd Place: Aberdeen Central @ Huron. 8:00
*Winner advances to face District 4AA runner up. Loser will have season come to an end.

District 4AA

Rapid City Stevens put up 81 points in a 38 point win over Douglas to secure a spot in the district final. A much closer game took place just a few miles down the road as Sturgis Brown pulled out a three point victory on the road against Rapid City Central 50-47.

*Winner advances to state tournament. Loser will play District 3AA 3rd place for a spot at the state tournament.

District 4AA 3rd Place: Douglas @ Rapid City Central. 7:00 (MT)
*Winner will play District 3AA runner up to qualify for state. Loser will have their season come to an end.
