I did not fire up the grill over Labor Day Weekend but I still ate enough to last me until Thanksgiving.

But at one Minnesota resort,  Black Bear Casino, about 20 miles south of Duluth, they grilled to epic proportions, cooking up a record setting burger.

The 2,014-pound, 10-foot-diameter bacon cheeseburger set a Guinness World Record in the biggest burger one-off event category.

The previous mark was 881 pounds, 13 ounces.

Black Bear’s burger also included 60 pounds of bacon, 50 pounds of lettuce, 50 pounds of sliced onions, 40 pounds of pickles and 40 pounds of cheese.

An outdoor oven powered by propane torches and 15-foot steel skillets were specially constructed to cook the burger and its bun. It took about four hours at 350 degrees to cook the burger, and more than seven hours to bake the bun.

A crane was used to hoist and flip the burger as it was cooked and assembled.

I’d hate to see the to-go box it fits in!
