Since Raymond's Jewelers relocated to 41st street about a year ago, their old location in downtown Sioux Falls has been sitting vacant. That is about to change.

Starting in July, Worldwide Skate & Snow Shop is re-opening and moving into downtown.

If you're proficient at the Disco Flip or the 360 Shuvit, or maybe you enjoy an occasional Ollie, you'll want to give this store a try.

Worldwide Skate & Snow Shop will sell high-end snowboards, skateboards, apparel and accessories for enthusiasts of both sports.

The store originally opened in Sioux Falls in 1994 and was located at 2101 W. 41st Street until a couple of years ago when owner Tara Christopher moved to California. Christopher now plans to open a store in Long Beach in the coming months.

Danny Poppens, Christopher's partner, will run the new downtown location.

Christopher said, "Sioux Falls is only growing, and the sport really never dies. We just specialize in high-end. When people are looking for high-end specialty, they know what they’re looking for or we help educate them.”

Worldwide Skate & Snow Shop is part of the new downtown retail incubator program, which is provided by Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. The program is designed to help launch retailers and fill vacant spaces within downtown Sioux Falls.

The incubator program has played an important role in the process of putting deals together to get new retailers downtown.

The downtown retail vacancies are finally getting leased up, according to Ryan Tysdal of Lloyd Companies who represented the landlord in the deal.

Christopher is excited about the new downtown location for Worldwide Skate & Snow Shop. She said "I was born and raised in Sioux Falls and like the downtown atmosphere, so I was glad it all worked out.”
